My mom gave my daughter a tea set for her 3rd birthday. We call it her “breakable tea set” since it’s made of porcelain and she’s already broken a few pieces (which were thankfully able to be glued back together.) Now that she’s a bit older she is much more careful with it and loves to pour water into the little cups and serve them to me or my husband for a pretend tea party.
Today she had a ballet class in the morning and a birthday party in the afternoon. We had a few hours in between the two, so I took her to lunch at a local British garden-themed tea restaurant. We had REAL tea, in REAL “breakable” tea cups, with REAL cookies and sandwiches. She even got to stir in a REAL sugar cube and watch it dissolve! She wore a new fancy dress and brought a purse with her “important things” (a few princess dolls, a fancy bracelet and a jingly necklace) and she even used her own money to buy a little souvenir. I can’t think of a more perfect way to spend an afternoon. 🙂
A truly wonderful afternoon!
Aw, how sweet!
